Hyperglycaemia Management Protocol and Basal Bolus Insulin Chart

The Hyperglycaemia Protocol and Basal Bolus Insulin Chart (MR62A) were originally adopted from the Flinders Medical Centre. The FMC Protocol is well researched and published in a peer reviewed journal. This version is larger in size enabling clearer documentation of blood glucose, blood ketones and subsequent escalations to support the admitting doctor. The chart enables prescribers to move away from the non-evidenced based ‘sliding scale insulin’ to a safer way of managing non-critical hyperglycaemia in regional hospitals.
